When mimicking your swing, ensure that your front shoulder is raised and that your dominant arm is slightly above the other.

Get to the training grounds, and warm-up your muscles for 5 to 10 minutes. Try a couple of practice swings using two clubs...you’ll get a sense of heaviness that you’ll try to maintain when you go back to using one club.
If you’re playing a match, don’t do any practice, but do some warm-up exercises and try to prepare mentally and physically for the rounds coming up. Hit about 40 balls during the warm up. First, place two clubs on the ground, in parallel, creating a corridor. Place your ball in the middle of the corridor and hit with a short iron (the 7, 8, or 9).
In order to get a good back swing, concentrate on your arm extension, ensuring that you are maintaining the triangle as you swing back. Once you feel that your
back swing is under control, start concentrating on the beginning of your downswing. It is absolutely necessary that your legs respond before your hands to ensure an adequate transfer of weight from one foot to the other. You must control this part of your downswing because it is often tempting to make the hands move before your lower body. Let your knees start the downswing and keep your head behind the ball as you hit it. Always try to produce a simple and compact swing that allows you to keep your balance to the very end. After you’ve practiced with 15 balls or so, continue with a 4- or 5-iron, and finish up with the woods.
